- Project Description:
- Human burials were found at Sitio Sierra (AG-3) during the 1971, 1973, and 1975 excavations. The remains in general represent a non-elite population, mostly adult. The older cemetery, found in the test pits of 1971 and 1973, representis the last five centuries of Precolumbian time, andcomprises individuals buried exclusively extended and face-down. The younger cemetery, dated to between 300 BCE and 500 CE, contains primary burials that are either flexed on buried as secondary packets. No artifacts that invite classification as "sumptuary" were found although some personal ornaments were associated with a few individuals.
