Note: Condition Review
a few places with minor stress fractures in the shank. and delaminating at the spatulated end (exacerbated by burial and corrosion). Stripped, leaving porous granular etched surface; brown to red-brown. Tool is not in plane. Samples gouged from metal along flat sides: 1 along side 1/3 down from spatulated end, and 1 about 1cm in middle of spatulated end.

Rebagged in polyethylene ziplock bag with Tyvek tag insert. The object was stabilized inside the bag in a purpose-built ethafoam cavity-mount.

rod/stock Note: Tapers rapidly from spatulated end to almost square-rectangular shank in center to a rounded cross-section 4/5 of the way down the tool from the spatulated end. Tapers to a point. Hammered end: ground to a point. Spatulated end: considerably work-hardened at knife edge for cutting use. and sanded to gently round the edges of the blade. quite sharp, strong.
