Methods included ESEM-EDS (environmental scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive x-ray analysis), providing both visual and elemental compositional information, and LA-ICP-MS (laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), providing elemental compositional information down to trace levels. These activities were recorded under MCI project number 6043.

Appendices describe: SEM-EDS (scanning electron microscopy, coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) of samples;LA-ICP-MS (laser ablation inducively coupled plasma spectroscopy - mass spectrometry) of samples; XRF (X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy) of CL-3-45 sample; SEM-EDS of CL-3-45 sample; and photomicrography of the CL-3-45 sample.
