Condition: Usewear Toolmarks
Note: rounded punch mark
Technique: Fabrication Method
Hammered-Sheet Note: Still fairly flexible, not entirely work hardened. 2 perforations with flanges toward "the verso" - sharp edged, protruding, not flattened at all, not worn. Concavity is being called "recto". Beveled band at edge of concavity (also concave), single line of embossed decoration at top edge of beveled band - created from back punched forward. Areas of doubled dots are deliberate re-aligning, in areas where dents not worked out around edge. Order of mfr: concavity from recto (e.g. rawhide hammer against wood, leaves next to no marks), inner chased line from recto (rounded edge tool, smooth continuous line with ever-so-slight corner), embossed pattern will end the dome (may have had a chased line and then beaded line). Then from recto, rim zone hammered as concavity over a form, then chased line, then embossed from verso. Very slightly more bright on recto (maybe because this is the more planished, compacted). Holes are fresh-punched - no flattening of flaps.
Treatment: Conservation Performed
Surface cleaned/degreased with acetone on cotton swab, avoiding resin patch with acc.#
