Gold-plated ornaments from shaft tombs in vicinity of Sona, Veraguas Panama. presented to teh US national Museum by Mr.Karl P. Curtis. Some were collected by the donor but a majority were acquired from juan Graticos "a professional tomb looter of Sona"
Note: Condition Review
Fragmentary. All of tail is missing and parts of both wings. Covered in light brown accretions especially on back (burial soil?). The gold surface is abraded and flaking off to reveal a black layer underneath. Green corrosion over surface appears to have been cleaned mechanically in some areas as there is heavy abrasion/scratching of surface gold. Odd surface morphology at PR ear may be from corrosion
Note: Follow-up Notes
Break edges at wing and tail reveal coppery core metal- may be good for ESEM EDS if not too large
