Note: Object Description
Open back cast double headed monkey pendant holding double wire tail around head with seven S scroll decorative elements. Single body, pair of arms, phallus, and pair of legs. Arms have high, pointed elbows and wire hands. Legs have snake anklets with wire decoration. Feet are broad, flat, and toeless. Single suspension loop in open back. Noses are large and bulbous, wire mouths, coffee bean eyes, S scroll ears.

Gold-plated ornaments from shaft tombs in vicinity of Sona, Veraguas Panama. presented to teh US national Museum by Mr.Karl P. Curtis. Some were collected by the donor but a majority were acquired from juan Graticos "a professional tomb looter of Sona"
Note: Condition Review
Coated with clear coating. Past restoration including re-adhesion of two S spiral decorations that had broken off of tail. They appear backed with some bakelite-type material. Several holes, including in PR hip, and PL forehead may be from casting or from corrosion and dissolution. Edges of some of the S scrolls are broken revealing black core under surface. Gold surface almost entirely intact.
