Double anthropomorphic open back pendant with two bat faced figures with elaborate adornment, headdress/hair, collars, scepters, earrings, loin cloths, and strips of repeated triangles. There are two thin flat triangles on either side of the pendant and two suspension loops at the back. There are six cast wires that extend directly out from the front and then form an S curve at the ends. Six small circular disks (spangles) with holes punched from one side are suspended from the cast wire strips.

" The Dade collection specimens, at the Museum of the American Indian, listed from the Finca Calderon undoubtedly come from this site [He-4, El Hatillo] as well as many of those listed from Parita. Mr.Philip L Dade of the Society recently excavated a number of graves at the site (personal communication from Dr.S.K.Lothrop)..." -Specific reference to this piece in the communication between Dade and Dockstader. Dade mentions that spangles are not original (?)

Good condition. Coated in clear coating and there is some white waxy residue in the crevices at the back, perhaps from a coating as well. There are some black accretions on the surface and in the crevices.. which may be investment, corrosion, or burial soil

Cast- Open Back Note: The entire surface is porous and pitted as from a casting without further finishing. Many artifacts from casting remain, including additional strips and bars of metal originally in the wax model to allow the metal to flow easier.
