Note: Owner Information Source
PreColumbian Master; Panama Gold
Note: Object Description
Small globular/biconical beads made from thin sheet and may have originally been over substrate. 6-8mm diam. One side of the beads tends to be open/wide, while the other is more flattened and in some cases has a burr going towards the interior.

Note: Research Notes
(transferred to MCI for analysis July 2009) Sitio Conte? El Cano?
Note: Condition Review
Some deformation and denting as the metal is very thin. May have originally had perishable substrate that may now be missing. Very delicate without substrate. Some cracks at the edges.
Note: Follow-up Notes
Special. Very interesting structure with flattened end and burr on one side. Unclear whether there was a substrate (interior surface texture would be interesting to look at)
Note: Analysis Recommendations

Materials:
Gold Alloy Not present Unknown Composite Note: Bead is gold alloy. Unclear if there was substrate (potentially organic).
Technique: Fabrication Method
Hammered-Sheathing Hammered-Sheet Other/Unknown Note: Possibly sheathing (substrate now missing) or else hammered over mandrel. Flange or burr visible on one inner edges of bead hole. Other aperture has ragged irregular Cut /chiseled edge with no flange. Bead might have been formed by dapping a circular disk in a dapping die, followed by punching one side (resulting in flange on one side)
