Note: Object Description
Open back cast double anthropomorphic pendant with single suspension loop on underside. Fragmentary. The figures share a single body with hemispherical body, phalus, and a single pair of legs.
Note: Owner Accession
Gold plated figurine ornaments from Prov. of Veraguas, Panama, collected y Sr. Juan Gratacos, Panama, and from him purchased (Order no.10987) through Dr.J.A Mason. No data on exact site or conditions of finding. All cast in molds and thinly plated
Note: Research Notes
Accession records specify "no info on site." Juan Gratacos, however, did send Lothrop site info on objects at Peabody from Veraguas.
Note: Condition Review
Very fragmentary. The interior is black, mineralized, and friable. The figure is missing parts of the legs, wings, and head/headress. There are multiple small fragments. There is light green corrosion present on the surface of the object and a light brown/pink powdery accretion. The gold layer appears to be in good condition, but is flaking where the core has corroded.
Note: Follow-up Notes
Too heavily mineralized for analysis by most methods.
