Note: Research Notes
no registrado por INAC; exhibición vitrina 1
Note: Sample Location
From cracks on body that are efflorescening
Note: Condition Review
aggressively cleaned, soaked into core, causing efflorescence of pale blue-green copper corrosion along grain boundaries in cast metal. Area under upper PL leg: resin (related to repair?) where a concentration of efflorescent corrosion and iron accretion occur.
Note: Housing Notes
Returned to display vitrine #1
Note: Follow-up Notes
soak long term to remove chemical treatment residues
Note: Analysis Recommendations
x-radiograph to clarify casting details

Note: Hollow-cast and core completely enclosed. Sheet metal dangles attached onto cast wire open loops (probably then somewhat closed) as part of bar held in hand. All details worked in wax. Possible areas of connection between core-investment: some areas quite lumpy with partial seams at border of lumpy area, especially across upper back below loop (large), top of head (small - possible sprue location?), possibly back of PL shoulder (circular patch-like oval, with indented seam all around it); back of PR shoulder looks like smeared fill but no border visible; above ankles on back. Patches show cast structure, probably cast in place on cast figure and smeared over. (Analysis of similar figures shows similar alloy for patch and figure). Efflorescence suggests core is still in place.
Treatment: Conservation Performed
Cleaned with ethanol to attempt to remove effluorescnce. Degreased with acetone careful not to remove museum number.
