Fragment of a gold sheathing from head of animal with embossed mouth, square teeth, four rectangular fangs/canines, and a pointed, triangular nose with two triangular nostrils punched from the exterior with extant burrs on interior. Appears as though the material under sheathing was carved and then thin sheet metal was overlayed and burnished to take the shape of the underlying material
Note: Condition Review
Fragmentary. Only a portion of the face remains which includes the mouth and bottom of nose. No corrosion but there are accretions and possible residue of underlying material on inside of the sheathing
Note: Follow-up Notes
Special Re-do Followup. Analysis may no be useful since this object has no provenience, but it is small (for ESEM-EDS) there are very small pieces almost broken off (for metallography), and there are accretions on interior that may help identify what was originally underneath the sheathing.
