Small double crocodile (?) open back cast pendant with curly switchback tail, globular nose and eyes with surrounding rings and central notch (coffee bean eyes). Two suspension loops at front and two small bands join the bodies at front and back. Coppery gold (red gold) color throughout cross section on broken proper left supsension loop.. but mineralized (?) dark red/black interior with gold outer layer at cross section on back feet.

Gold plated figurine ornaments from Prov. of Veraguas, Panama, collected y Sr. Juan Gratacos, Panama, and from him purchased (Order no.10987) through Dr.J.A Mason. No data on exact site or conditions of finding. All cast in molds and thinly plated

Accession records specify "no info on site." Juan Gratacos, however, did send Lothrop site info on objects at Peabody from Veraguas.

Good condition. Some green corrosion on surface but the weight implies solid metal. Small loss at PL suspension loop and both back feet are slightly broken/abraded, revealing cross section.

Exposed cross-section on the suspension loop on the PR side would be ideal for in-situ ESEM-EDS.
