Originally a domed profile, now flattened (compression most in the center). Compression suggests concave on polished side. Fine layer of soil. A number of scattered tears and pinholes from compression; 2 in center are largest (9.5, 5.5 mm in length).

Note: All working done from unpolished side. Chased line (indent) around the circumference ~ 5 (6 at broadest) mm in from edge. Sideways V shaped pattern, about 4-6 mm apart. From shiny side, nose of chevron runs clockwise. Chevron created by a line punch (used 2x). Tool is 3 mm in length, 0.5 mm in width at completion end of tool. Dimpled pattern continuous for 60 mm angling from edge to (rounded tool is 0.7 mm in diam) from 9 to 11 o'clock close to the chased line. Broken edge obscures some of the decorative pattern. Two holes (2-2.5mm diameter) punched from shiny to nonshiny side, a bit of burr.

Tumba 16 Sitio Conte (?) Note: Note: Doubtful attribution. Pectoral disk with Lothrop's field number 33-42-30/1082 is authentic (corroded, fragmented, attached to a piece of cardboard as part of the lifting process), corresponding also to description of condition in Lothrop's publications. The two disks Tumba 16 s/c-1 and s/c-2 are markedly better preserved and are likely not from this context.

Technique: Fabrication Method

Note: Gold sheet, flattened. May be closer to the annealed state (not as workhardened). Edges rolled back on themselves, first in one direction and then other, but no apparent consistency of direction. Tooled edge? or bent edge? Probably high content gold, not much evidence of corrosion.

Treatment: Conservation Performed

Note: Surface cleaned/degreased with acetone on cotton swab - filthy on the shiny side.
