Individual records for Precolumbian gold- and copper- alloy artifacts excavated at the site of Cerro Juan Díaz [CJD], Los Santos, Panama, by archaeological teams directed by Dr. Richard Cooke, research archaeologist at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute [STRI] in Panama City, Panama. Information recorded for each object includes available details about excavation context, manufacturing technique, condition, and conservation actions, as well as analytical procedures carried out to elucidate technological aspects, including metal composition. Technical investigation was carried out during two research phases, in 2006 and 2007, by research teams from the Smithsonian's Museum Conservation Institute [MCI]. The 2006 research phase involved object sampling in Cooke's laboratory at STRI and follow-up instrumental analysis at MCI; the 2007 research phase was carried out in in Cooke's laboratory at STRI
