Open back cast Cu-Au alloy pendant of saurian (crocodile?) with suspension loops on front legs and enriched gold surface. Ball in ring eyes and globular nostrils. Feet are rows of 4 connected wires.

Gold plated figurine ornaments from Prov. of Veraguas, Panama, collected y Sr. Juan Gratacos, Panama, and from him purchased (Order no.10987) through Dr.J.A Mason. No data on exact site or conditions of finding. All cast in molds and thinly plated

Accession records specify "no info on site." Juan Gratacos, however, did send Lothrop site info on objects at Peabody from Veraguas.

Note: Condition Review
Most of gold at surface is missing, revealing black underneath and coppery area near top of back. Surface appears heavily abraded, perhaps from past cleaning of corrosion that has also removed much of the gold surface. All in one piece. Appears mostly dark where gold is abraded or flaked away. Some green corrosion on surface. Broken areas appear black underneath
