Note: Owner Accession
Gold plated figurine ornaments from Prov. of Veraguas, Panama, collected y Sr. Juan Gratacos, Panama, and from him purchased (Order no.10987) through Dr.J.A Mason. No data on exact site or conditions of finding. All cast in molds and thinly plated
Note: Research Notes
Accession records specify "no info on site." Juan Gratacos, however, did send Lothrop site info on objects at Peabody from Veraguas.
Note: Condition Review
The pendant is broken in three pieces, which includes a main body fragment, a broken off suspension loop and a broken PL foot. The base alloy is heavily mineralized and appears dark brown to black in areas where the surface gold has flaked away. There is extensive green corrosion over the surface of the frog and there are large areas of loss in the enriched gold surface layer. Extensive scratches and loss of gold indicate past mechanical cleaning
Note: Follow-up Notes
Too heavily mineralized to produce good results
