Note: Object Description

Open back cast Jaguar pendant with whiskers, coffee bean eyes, raised ears, and a long tail that curls slightly at the end. The two front paws act as suspension loops. There are several casting flaws and pits in the surface from casting. There is a split in the metal at the bottom of the head that looks as though it may have been repaired. There is a metal projection at the end of the tail that may also be from casting. The surface is gold, likely enriched through depletion gilding

Gold plated figurine ornaments from Prov. of Veraguas, Panama, collected y Sr. Juan Gratacos, Panama, and from him purchased (Order no.10987) through Dr.J.A Mason. No data on exact site or conditions of finding. All cast in molds and thinly plated

Technique: Fabrication Method

Cast- Open Back Note: Open back cast. There may be remnants of investment material inside head. Many artifacts from casting present on the surface and a projection of metal at the end of the tail that could be a vent or channel. Small square loss in the metal at the end of the tail, perhaps from the casting process. There is a split in the metal under the chin of the pendant similar to A382240 (from casting?)
