Beads were strung on a monofilament that was cutting into the edges of some of the beads because the line was too short for the number of beads. Metal is in good condition, no evidence of corrosion. Several beads are crushed in places.

Rebagged in polyethylene ziplock bag with a Volara backing. A Tyvek tag insert was included with the accession number.

Hammered-Sheet? Note: The object is composed of 23 counted tubular beads formed of gold metal foil by rolling. Two of the beads have slid inside the adjacent beads. 4 beads have chased linear strations. They are strung on a double stranded monofilament line. It is possible that the beads that were joined by sweated were cut from one roll.

Technique: Joinery

Note: There are several joinery types on this object: 7 beads (6 plain, 1 decorated) that are rolled with an overlap visible on exterior and interior; 5 (plain) beads that are rolled with an overlap (visible on exterior and interior) and sweat joined; 11 beads (8 plain, 3 decorated) that are unknown (no overlapping or joining apparent).

Treatment: Conservation Performed

Surface cleaned/degreased with acetone on cotton swab, avoiding resin patch with acc.#. Beads were taken off of there line and restrung onto a new monofilament of appropriate length.
